Family Leadership & Accountability Program (FLAP)

Parent Education & Accountability • Week 01 / 12
Stronger families.
One intentional step.
Parental Responsibility and Accountability
Recognize your influence. Build consistent habits. Create a safer, more stable, and supportive home for your child.

Stronger Parents. Stronger Families. Stronger Futures
Parenting comes with challenges, but positive change begins with the willingness to learn and take action. The Youth Military Coalition’s Parent Education & Accountability Program helps parents strengthen their parenting skills, build healthier relationships with their children, and create more stable, supportive homes.
12 Weeks | In-Person Classes | One 3-Hour Class Per Week (Every Saturday) Time: 10:00am- 1:00pm
Our Purpose
Children need dependable guidance, emotional support, appropriate supervision, and consistent boundaries. This program helps parents better understand those responsibilities and develop practical habits they can use at home.
What Parents Will Learn
Through guided lessons, group discussions, and practical exercises, participants will work on:
-
Understanding parental responsibilities and accountability.
-
Recognizing children’s emotional and developmental needs.
-
Setting clear expectations and consistent household routines.
-
Communicating respectfully and listening effectively.
-
Managing frustration and responding constructively to difficult behavior.
-
Using reasonable, nonviolent discipline and follow-through.
-
Supporting their children’s education and working with schools.
-
Creating personal action plans and practicing positive habits at home.
How the Program Works
Parents attend one in-person, three-hour class each week for 12 weeks, totaling 36 scheduled hours.
Each class includes:
-
Attendance and review of the previous week’s homework.
-
A focused parenting lesson.
-
Group discussions and real-life scenarios.
-
A scheduled break.
-
Practical exercises and role-playing.
-
A written assessment and personal action plan.
-
Homework to practice before the next class.
The goal is to help parents apply what they learn to everyday family life.
Participation & Accountability
Participants are expected to arrive on time, attend scheduled classes, communicate respectfully, participate in activities, and complete assigned assessments and homework.
Parents will develop specific improvement goals and reflect on their progress throughout the program. Personal court cases do not need to be shared with the group. Classroom expectations and the limits of confidentiality will be explained during orientation.
